Why We Need An After The Dysfunctional Family Get Together Care Plan

Because the one place we should feel the safest, be the most supported, and receive the most love, is the last place we often get any of that.

Because to an extent we are all dysfunctional and we need to reset after spending time with each other, but in those cases where dysfunction is prominent, we need a clean wash.

Because our current life needs us to show up focused, present, and as healthy as possible.

Because more holidays are coming and will bring with them their own set of challenges.

Identify the constraint, exploit it.

The part of a system that is the weakest link is a constraint. The constraint is setting the pace for the entire thing. Whether that is a process, situation, or an event. If we are running 100% in all other areas, we will still be held back by anything that isn’t running as fast. We will run the speed of the constraint.

At a family gathering we could be having the time of our lives except for drunk Aunt Pattie who insists on dragging up the past any time someone is in earshot of her. Family members like Pattie may be a constraint in our lives. They can be because of the impact of what they say or don’t say and/or because they are a constant dysfunctional…
