Why The Playground in Elementary School Mindset Doesn’t Work At The Office: Stop It!

A coworker came in baffled because she couldn’t understand why the department head didn’t connect with her and play nice. Their interaction together consisted of the depth of one email. I can’t over state her naivety, or ignorance, to think that she could show up with a cute smile and it would all work out. That she didn’t have to do any work prior to the meeting to ensure that communication went well.

Play Ground In Elementary School

There are groups. No one told us to form them, but we did. All on our own our little minds looked at people and made categories. Classified people based off their looks, clothes, who they hung out with, their talents, lack of, the things they did, and the way they interacted with the teacher. For the life of me I can’t remember a time in school we didn’t form clicks or have any type of equal opportunity. We were classified from day one.

Over near the slide there was the active kids. Fat Sally couldn’t get up the ladder let alone slide down backwards. Only Brian could do that. Dreamy Brian. I was too little to understand why a tight ass was a good thing, but I knew enough to know it was nice to look at. Brian hung with John who ran fast, Tom could do the monkey bars, and Doug could skip fast. They…
