How We Can Use Art to Change Our Thinking

If we understand a little about ourselves we should understand what makes us tick. We can see what we navigate towards, what motivates us, and where we are gifted. Many of us are drawn to opportunities that we are comfortable with. We learned what comes natural to us and earns us praise and reward. What doesn’t gets put on the back burner, but if we want to change our thinking and grow we must exercise our weak areas. We must find an activity that focuses on areas that we neglect.
Ned Hermann/Whole Brain Thinking
Ned Hermann developed the Whole Brain Model to describe a person’s preferred pattern of thinking. Hermann believed that thinking preferences were not the result from one single physical part of the brain, left/right brain, but from the activation of multiple specialized, complex networks that are shaped by experience and can strengthen over time.

For Hermann the goal is to be as situationally whole brained as possible. We should take advantage of our preferences, but not be limited by them. If we want to grow we should explore our secondary preferences and practice them…
