How Can We Add Value At Work While We Heal from Our Brokenness
My boss called a simple meeting about a half hour before I was supposed to get off work. There was no agenda, it was just a quick get-together, everyone was friendly, and we met in our creative office area.
Something during the meeting triggered a panic attack and I started to feel as if a co-worker was attacking me. I remember trying to decide if I should run out of the room so I could get somewhere safe. I got through it but had to call my counselor to try to understand what happened and how to cope if it happened again.
“But COVID-19 did more than increase the prevalence of mental health issues; it also accelerated positive momentum in our communities to raise awareness about these issues and increased accessibility to crucial support and services for those affected.
The increased awareness about mental health in the workplace is helpful for those of us who struggle, but do you ever wonder if employers understand the reality that people face when they are struggling to get to work daily?
