How A Diary From 96 Years Ago Can Help Us Find Ourselves

What is normal and how do we define it? We start off in life mimicking much of what we were taught and following the example of those we are surrounded by. If that doesn’t create a reality we are willing to live with how do we define a new one?

I’m driven by a need to silence a critic I have heard since I was born. While I was able to physically distance myself from this person their words will remain in my mind forever. As I try to figure out who I am, apart from them, I find myself in need of validation.

Jack had a goal and he spent a great deal of time doing things that supported that goal like reading, thinking, and having conversations about what he read.

It is no surprise that he eventually achieves his goal because you can see an obvious progression of doing all the right things to attain it. In order to achieve his goal he needed the financial support of his father, much like how Van Gogh and Tchaikovsky needed financial support to achieve theirs.

Jack grappled with the theory of knowledge and doctrine of imagination and which is only interesting because this man would become a literary giant.

A man who is to have a radical life change and impact the world with his words has a simple story to tell about walks with Pat and that story tells…
