Book Review: George Sand; A Woman’s Life Writ Large
Lessons about life, art, emotion, pain, and creativity
After reading a book I look at it to surmise my overall feelings. I flip it around and flip through the pages as a way to signify its time to think through what the author was trying to convey to me. If the book is a keeper I open up Evernote and start typing in my notes. If it’s a book that has moved me I open up a paper notebook and write everything out. Writing out my notes reinforces what I have learned and further impresses upon my heart the lessons I want to learn.
As soon as I began reading this book I was made fully aware of how little I know about great writers. I realized that there must be people somewhere studying writers who are vastly more educated than I am on the topic. I was embarrassed, but I decided to make up for my ignorance by continuing the book. George herself admits that the more she read the greater was her sense of intellectual inadequacy so I am comforted in my state of ignorance.
Possibilities
George provides readers with a view of what is possible in life. Isn’t that why we read in the first place. George’s life shows readers how to use art to react and cope with life. She gives us an idea of how to use situations and experiences to feed creativity. She…
